At Book About we are committed to protecting your privacy.

This Privacy Policy outlines how your personal information is collected, used, and shared when you visit or make a purchase from (the “Site”).

When you visit the Site, we automatically collect certain information about your device, including information about your web browser, IP address, time zone, and some of the cookies that are installed on your device. Additionally, as you browse the Site, we collect information about the individual web pages or products that you view, what websites or search terms referred you to the Site, and information about how you interact with the Site. We refer to this automatically collected information as “Device Information.”

We Collect Device Information Using the Following Technologies:

  •  “Cookies” are data files that are placed on your device or computer and often include an anonymous unique identifier. For more information about cookies, and how to disable cookies, visit
  •  “Log files” track actions occurring on the Site, and collect data including your IP address, browser type, internet service provider, referring/exit pages, and date/time stamps.
  •  “Web beacons,” “tags,” and “pixels” are electronic files used to record information about how you browse the Site.

Additionally when you make a purchase or attempt to make a purchase through the Site, we collect certain information from you, including your name, billing address, shipping address, payment information (including credit card, email address, and phone number).  We refer to this information as “Order Information.”

When we talk about “Personal Information” in this Privacy Policy, we are talking both about Device Information and Order Information.

We use the Order Information that we collect generally to fulfill any orders placed through the Site (including processing your payment information, arranging for shipping, and providing you with invoices and/or order confirmations).  Additionally, we use this Order Information to:

  • Communicate with you;
  • Screen our orders for potential risk or fraud; and
  • When in line with the preferences you have shared with us, provide you with information or advertising relating to our products or services.

We use the Device Information that we collect to help us screen for potential risk and fraud (in particular, your IP address), and more generally to improve and optimize our Site (for example, by generating analytics about how our customers browse and interact with the Site, and to assess the success of our marketing and advertising campaigns).

We never rent or sell your Personal Information and photos to any other third parties and we will never otherwise share your data unless to comply with applicable laws and regulations, to respond to a subpoena, search warrant or other lawful request for information we receive, or to otherwise protect our rights.

We require all third parties to respect the security of your personal data and to treat it in accordance with the law. We do not allow our third-party service providers to use your personal data for their own purposes and only permit them to process your personal data for specified purposes and in accordance with our instructions.

We share your Personal Information with third parties ONLY to help us complete your order. 

  • We use Word Press to power our online store.
  • Our trusted Australian based printer, Design to Print Solutions, in order to print your photos.
  • Our payment processor in order to take your payment. 
  • Australia Post in order to ship your order. 
  • Filestack to upload your photos on our website. These photos are not linked to your names or emails and are only stored for 20 days.
  • Google Analytics to see if any of our marketing initiatives actually work and to help us understand how our you use the Site.

We will only print photo content you send us for printing. You are responsible for ensuring that the content of your photos does not violate copyright or transgress laws in your country.

You still own the copyright to your photos and you do not give up any rights over them. Your photos are still your photos and printing photos supplied to us for printing does not affect your ownership of these photos.

We strive to provide you with choices regarding certain personal data uses, particularly around marketing and advertising.

Where you have not previously bought from us but have registered your details with us (for example by entering a competition or signing up for a newsletter), we will only send you marketing communications if you opted into receiving marketing at the time and so given us your express consent.

We do not automatically sign you up for our marketing emails. We leave it up to you to opt-in by marking the appropriate check box at check out or opting in on our homepage page. You have the option to unsubscribe from our emails through a link at the bottom of every email we send to you. If you personally want to update the details that you have registered with us, or would like to amend your subscription preferences or unsubscribe altogether, you can do this in the “My Account” section of our Site.

You have the option to unsubscribe from online push notifications through disallowing notifications in your browser.

You are always free to opt out from following us on Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, etc. should you prefer to do so.

You do not have to create an account to order from Book About. However, it makes checking-out that much faster when details are already on file. We store your information so we can complete your order and so we can reprint your order at a future date should you request this service or should your initial order be lost or damaged.

  •  We store your name, address, email, and telephone number indefinitely unless or until you ask us to delete it.
  • We store the photos you uploaded for printing for six months before automatically deleting them.

Your payment information is handled by our payment processor. We never see your full card details.

  • Your account passwords are fully encrypted. They are not collected or stored.
  • We do not collect any photos that you do not select for printing.
  •  We do not knowingly solicit or collect information from those under 18, in accordance with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act. Our site is intended for use by those over 18.

We have put in place appropriate security measures to prevent your personal data from being accidentally lost, used or accessed in an unauthorised way, altered or disclosed. In addition, we limit access to your personal data to those employees, agents, contractors and other third parties who have a business need to know. They will only process your personal data on our instructions and they are subject to a duty of confidentiality. 

We may update this privacy policy from time to time in order to reflect, for example, changes to our practices or for other operational, legal or regulatory reasons.
